Several groups of Chinese industry representatives are visiting the National RV Show in Louisville, KY from December 1st thru 3rd. The groups consist of more than 60 people representing RV manufacturers, RV importers, RV suppliers, automakers, campground developers, investors, and media. The groups’ visit reflects China’s strong interest in developing its RV and campground industry.

China’s state-owned enterprise China Minmetals Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, launches several RV projects to start its foray into the RV industry. According to Fuzhou Daily, Minmetals, joined by China Travel Service Hong Kong, acquired an auto maker in Fuzhou, Jiangxi province and turned it into its first RV manufacturing facility.

Fueled by the demand of tourists, China’s $150 billion tourism industry sees tremendous growth over the past decade. Compared with 740 million people in 2000, the number of domestic tourists more than doubled in 2007 to reach 1.6 billion, according to China National Tourism Administration.
