European Caravan Bound for China |

As reported by Phoenix TV, an European caravan of some 60 RVs started its journey on June 3, 2010. It will take 90 days traveling from Paris to Beijing. The whole trip is about 19,000 miles. Officials from the Fédération Internationale de Camping et de Caravanning (F.I.C.C.), Uni VDL (French RV Manufacturers Association), and China National Tourism Administration attended ceremonies for the caravan.

The Chinese government is pushing hard to promote consumer spending on travel and vacations. The State Council, China’s highest administrative authority, calls for rapid growth of the tourism industry. In the recently released “The State Council’s Suggestions on the Tourism Industry,” the top executive administration gives the industry “strategic pillar industry” status – prioritized for favorable treatments in finance, taxes, resource allocation, land use, and many other incentives.
